Minor Alterations

 Featuring:
sweater dress, Martin & Osa
tights, Target
earrings, AE
boots, Kenneth Cole

I didn't realize until last night when I was uploading my pictures just how short my dress was yesterday. Probably about two inches shorter than what would generally be considered "work appropriate." Ooooops. So, today I made the smart decision of browsing my pictures before leaving the house. Thus, the addition of a belt, which I think did wonders for this outfit.

And I know, my hair is up. INSANITY. But, the last thing I wanted to worry about while clearing three inches of snow off my car was my hair being in my face. (It came down about an hour into work, it needs to be loose or it gets angry. Yes, my hair does have its own personality.)

"Yeah, three buttons is a little '90's, Mr. Wayne."

Featuring:
top, Banana Republic
skirt, F21
scarf, F21
pearls, from Mom
flats, Reaction by Kenneth Cole

Today, I officially transformed from a Red Dragon to a Black Knight. While CState will always be dear to me, I must admit, I look much better in black than I do in red.
It was a balmy 20 degrees here today, but my sweater tights were up to the challenge. However, I discovered today that my flats are not waterproof. That or the slush was so deep that it managed to sneak up the sides. Gotta watch out for that sneaky slush, you guys.

Besides sweater tights and scarves, the only thing protecting me from frostbite is this winter coat. The hood is enormous, and I'm pretty sure I look like a giant grey eskimo walking down the street, but dammit, I'm warm!

Also, here is a sneak peek of the apartment! If you look closely you will find A. my obsession with Fight Club, B. Doom using our leather arm chair to creep on the people slipping on the ice outside and C. our FABULOUS leopard couch pillow.

My Triumphant Return!

WHY HELLO THERE, BLOGGY FRIENDS!

I know, I know, it has been far too long. I have been insanelyyy busy with the holidays/work/moving in and blogging got pushed to the wayside. Sad. But I'm back, with lots to tell!

I started work and it's great. I'm moved in and almost decorated to my liking. NYE was a shitshow and a half and I LOVED IT.

The End.

Just kidding, I'll explain.

Work is challenging and interesting and fun and I love the people I work with. I somehow managed to really impress them this week and I've been promoted from Administrative Assistant to Office Administrator/Recruiter. So, hooray!
I have everything unpacked, but have yet to put the finishing touches on my room and the rest of the apartment. I think we have a really good start though.

I went grocery shopping with the roomie today and we are both food addicts, so I may or may not gain 100 lbs this semester. On a similar note, I realized this week that none of my "work" clothes fit. I don't understand how this happened, but it's a little upsetting because I've barely worn some of them! My frown turned upside down though when I got a great pair of navy trousers at Gap for $25 and a pair of hunter green wool ones from AE for FOURTEEN DOLLARS.

NYE was so so fun and the perfect way to kick off 2011. The BFFs and I got a hotel room and managed to start the mildly inappropriate behavior by 9pm. Ooops. It all ended successfully though, despite Elle's case of the sniffles!

Enough about me, on to outfitssss.

Pardon myself for looking so haggard, I took these after a day of working and unpacking.

Featuring:
top, Loft; skirt, F21; tights, Target; boots, Airwalk

At work, I wore my ASOS flats with this, but switched to these much more practical boots for unloading the car/unpacking. I'm loving this skirt (pocketsss!), and I can ~remix~ it so many ways, which is fantastic. I scored the top during the AMAZING post-xmas sale at Loft; I love the mix of black lace with blue stripes.

Out with the Old and In with the New

I have so much to post about I don't even know where to start. The past week has been a hectic, but really good one.
Lists always seem to serve me well in these types of situations:

1. I got a job! 150 people applied, and they picked me. Freaking awesome.
Also, it pays $16/hour. YAY. They want me to start Monday. AH.

2. I got the keys to my apartment and started buying cute things. Don't worry, I'll be posting the transformation.

3. I got a new winter coat! Snow and wind will be no match for me.

4. I got my poster in the mail!!

5. My apologies for a lack of outfits, but I promise I will take lots of pictures this weekend. I've been wearing only sweats or interview clothes lately, and those are boring (I only wear black/grey and no jewelry when on an interview; I want them to remember me for my qualifications, not my sparkly necklace or red skirt).

Picture time!

The always adorable Kimmie (who has mastered cute business casual like no other), held a giveaway a week or two ago and I won! My prize was a fabulous poster (of my choice!) from A Vintage Poster. Can't wait to put it in my apartment :)

I ordered a Calvin Klein winter coat from Macy's last week and it came today. It was originally $265 and I got it on sale for $109.99 with free shipping! While it looks bulky in the pictures, it is actually fairly slimming when worn, which is rare for a down-filled, knee-length coat.
I'm loving the giant, fur-lined hood.
Dilemma of the day: I need a bedspread!
Okay, so I have this fabulous rug (a gift from a family friend!) that is going to work beautifully as a pop of color in my white-walled apartment. However, I am having a very hard time deciding on what kind of comforter/bedspread would compliment it best. Suggestions?!

Okay, time to continue packing.
Ginger is being a big help, as usual.
